Working with node attachments

Another feature of MindMaze is attachments to nodes. If you want to associate a node with additional information (like rich text
or image(s)) you can use this feature. There will be times when you don't want to display this information directly on node (mainly due to space constraints or for neatness). In such cases, you can use node attachments. For instance, latest images of Car on a 'Car' node.

For adding attachments, click on the paperclip button found on the toolbar. You can also bring attachment window by clicking 'Edit'->'Node Attachment'. Keyboard shortcut for adding attachment is 'A'.

There is an additional paperclip icon shown on the top-right corner of any nodes having attachments. Clicking this paperclip icon will open the attachment in attachment window. Keyboard shortcut for showing attachment is 'A' while the node is selected.

There are 2 modes for attachment window. 'Editor Mode' and 'Viewer Mode'. In viewer mode, you cannot change the attached content. When you open nodes having attachments, it is shown in Viewer mode. This is as a precaution so as to not modify the content accidentally. You can then edit the content by clicking Edit button or pressing Ctrl+Enter or Cmd+Enter. If the selected node does not have any attachments currently, then it is opened in Editor Mode directly.

The editor features basic formatting tools like text alignment, text modifiers like (Bold, Italic and Underline etc.) and more. It also lets you change font used and font size. You can insert images to the attachment by clicking on the 'image' button in the attachment editor. You can also drag and drop images from your computer to the attachment editor to insert it directly.

If you are inserting images, remember MindMaze's storage only accepts mindmaps upto 5Mb. Hence you don't have the luxury of attaching many images (big in size). Ofcourse, you can use Google Drive for such maps. You also have the option of storing such maps directly to your computer (hard disk).

If you don't want to save the changes and close the editor/viewer, press Escape. This will not save the changes made. Click 'Save' button to save the changes and close the editor. You can also use the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl/Cmd+Enter.
